Created the fundraising plan for a national
support group to fund the Smithsonian's
National Museum of American History First Ladies
Exhibit. Dorene D. Whitney led the group and 10
San Diegans joined the 80 who contributed several
millions of dollars necessary to preserve the
artifacts including the famous gowns. It was the
first campaign to attract the private sector for
the Smithsonian's American History Museum.
(This was for the prior exhibit and not the one
that opened December 2008.)
